Didcot Rugby Club gets an Osteopath

FullSizeRender-2Last year I joined Didcot Rugby Union Football Club as their first and second team osteopath. Didcot are based at the extraordinary Boundary Park at the centre of the Great West Park development. The state of the art facility has a brand new club house that is open to the public and is shared with local cricket and football teams.

Didcot were promoted to the Berks Bucks and Oxon Premiership this season.
They have had a strong first season narrowly missing out on third place. They hadn’t had any physical therapy or pitch coverage for games previously and whilst chatting to players I was seeing at Castle Osteopathic Clinic I decided to offer my help.

IMG_5710Didcot are a wonderful club with a fiercely passionate following
and I’ve had a fantastic time working with the players and coaches. FullSizeRender-1

Working in Rugby is unlike any other sport and running on the pitch to deal with injuries can be akin to working in a hospital A&E department.

So here’s to the next season and thanks to all at Didcot rugby club for making me feel so welcome. And if you’re in the area, come down and show your support for a local team.

Au Revoir Kate

FullSizeRenderIt’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to Kate who leaves us this week. Kate has been with us since 2008 and has been an integral part of the clinic. She will be greatly missed by her patients and by us all at the clinic.

Good luck Kate and Andy. Oh and Max, please don’t throw your mum again!

As you can see, George has taken the news very badly!

Joel Wins Associate of the Year

Huge congratulations to Joel Redman for winning Associate of the Year at the annual Institute of Osteopathy awards. The awards, designed to celebrate successes in osteopathy and encourage role-modelling of best practice, were nominated by the profession, judged by an independent panel of experts and presented at the glittering gala dinner and awards ceremony in the company of some of the biggest names in osteopathy. Joel works both here at Castle Osteopathic Clinic and Summertown Clinic Oxford and we are all very proud of his achievement.

Workplace Assessment

It is a sad truth that a large number of the patients we see at the clinic are there because of their jobs. Possibly the biggest category are those who work in an office. The hours people put in and the time spent without breaks are extraordinary. Identifying the risks for many is very hard. You may have had a work station assessment but how effective was it?

In an effort to offer further support to our patients, we can do a mini assessment for you. Simply have someone take a photograph of you from the side, sat at your desk, showing the screen, desk and you. We will then discuss your work station and any alterations we feel would help, linking this directly to your treatment. This will usually speed your recovery and improve your working comfort.

So bring in those pictures and see what we can do for you. Castle Osteopathic & Natural Health Clinic Logo
