Jon McSwiney D.O. N.D. BSc. (Hons) Osteopathic Medicine

Jon graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996 and is a member of the British Osteopathic Association and the Osteopathic Sports Care Asociation. Since graduating Jon has pursued a number of professional areas. First and foremost is clinical practice working at Castle Osteopathic Clinic in Wallingford South Oxfordshire.

Jon was selected as part of the medical team for the London 2012 Olympic Games. He was based at Eton Dorney for the rowing. As part of a multi disciplinary team, Jon treated both athletes from all over the world and members of the Olympic family. He was also selected for the medical team at the 2017 World and Para Athletics Championships held at the Olympic Stadium. Most recently he was part of the medical team at Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Jon also pursues his passion for working in sport covering on pitch for DIdcot Rugby Union Football Club and Oxfordshire Under 20s.

He has worked in all areas of employment as a musculoskeletal and ergonomics consultant. This work focuses on advising employers how best to protect and rehabilitate staff from musculoskeletal injury. This has taken Jon to some extraordinary places. Working with oil tanker staff on the Isle of Skye, advising BBC camera operators on the set of East Enders, changing batteries on a 747 (Jumbo Jet) for British Airways or working out how to safely move Napoleons gold desk at Windsor Castle for the Royal Household. Jon is passionate about bringing the advice he gives to large employers to his clinical patients focusing on the everyday stresses of the work environment and developing strategies with the patient to reduce them. In recognition of his work, the General Osteopathic Council listed Jon as one of the top ten osteopaths in the country for the Independent news papers Top Brass feature.

Finally, Jon has spent many years as a lecturer in anatomy and osteopathy at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine and remains a guest lecturer and as Moderator for the final clinical competence exams. He lectured for Oxford Brookes University in clinical studies and Anatomy focusing on future osteopaths clinical skills. He now acts as the Moderator for Final Clinical Competence exams at
