From a young age I have always wanted to work in a health orientated profession. Combining my passions for the biological sciences and physical education led me to become a sports massage practitioner 5 years ago after studying in London.
My desire to work with and help individuals from all walks of life means I enjoy treating all types of patients
I have been a keen rugby player for many years and was lucky enough to be first team captain whilst studying my A-levels as well as playing for Malvern RFC and Hereford and Worcester County. From my experience on the pitch I fully appreciate the stresses and strains that can be placed on the body during training and matches. From the ‘Weekend Warrior’ to the ‘Elite Performer’ I firmly believe that manual therapy can help prevent an ache from becoming a pain, that becomes a serious problem.
Prior to starting university, I took two years out in which I lived and worked in Austria as a ski and snowboarding representative for one of the top ski companies in the UK. I still enjoy ski holidays when I’m able to take time out and still very much enjoy watching the rugby on a regular basis.
After completing 5 years of studying Osteopathic Medicine at Oxford Brookes, a challenge I have thoroughly enjoyed, I have the absolute pleasure and privilege to be working within two of the most highly regarded clinics in Oxfordshire at Summertown Clinic and Castle Osteopathic Clinic.
I utilise a wide variety of osteopathic principles and manual therapy techniques in my treatment sessions. This benefits my patients by having a bespoke treatment session guided by their preferences and specific goals.
From patients with acute pain to long term disability I aim to tailor my treatments accordingly to get my patients back to health as quickly as possible.
Joel was recently awarded Associate of the Year at the annual Institute of Osteopathy awards.
The awards, designed to celebrate successes in osteopathy and encourage role-modelling of best practice, were nominated by the profession, judged by an independent panel of experts and presented at the glittering gala dinner and awards ceremony in the company of some of the biggest names in osteopathy. Joel works both here at Castle Osteopathic Clinic and Summertown Clinic Oxford and we are all very proud of his achievement.
